Welcome

As a deer pants for flowing streams, so pants my soul for you, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When shall I come and appear before God?
Psalm 42:1-2

Pursuit is the college ministry at Trinity Baptist Church in Norman, Oklahoma, and a registered student organization on the University of Oklahoma campus. Like Trinity, Pursuit seeks to equip Christians to engage and evangelize the world, fulfilling the Great Commission under the model of Ephesians 4:11-16.

We want to proclaim the gospel of reconciliation (2 Corinthians 5:18-19) with God through Jesus Christ, who has purchased our redemption with his blood, even though we were once of an alienated and hostile mind (like those in Colossians 1:21-23), doing evil deeds. We seek to be a strong community of believers sharing fellowship and accountability under authority that can equip us for ministry, so that we are united in faith and knowledge of the Son of God, growing spiritually into Christ, our Lord and Savior, as a body being built up in love and working properly, being mature and not tossed to and fro by every wind of doctrine (Ephesians 4:11-16).

Biblical teaching is heard throughout a variety of semester-long Sunday morning classes open for attendance as well as a Tuesday night Bible study led by Trinity’s Associate Pastor Ryan Polk. At Pursuit students have opportunities to fellowship (such as the Wednesday night Church Dinner) and have accountability with other Christians in the college ministry along with those in the wider church body of Trinity.

Several areas of the church and the college ministry offer ways to serve Christ. Other ministries at Trinity Baptist can benefit from the involvement of college students, but students are especially encouraged to actively engage the University of Oklahoma campus for the glory of God, such as in tough areas like abortion or naturalism, as well as areas like the dorms where OU requires nearly all new students to live during their freshman year at the university.
